This Italian pitcher, an exceptional work by Roger Capron, dates from the 1950s and embodies the bold style of ceramics of that era. Made between 1953 and 1965, it features a “spearhead” decor that evokes the beauty and creativity of the French Riviera. Signed Capron Vallauris A20, this rare pitcher testifies to the remarkable talent of Capron, who played a key role in the golden age of ceramics, alongside figures like Picasso and Derval. In 1970, he received the international grand prize for ceramics, confirmed by his visionary work. Among his notable projects, he was asked to renovate the decoration of the Byblos hotel in Saint-Tropez, thus affirming his influence in the field of ceramics during a flourishing period.
