Handwoven in wool, circa 1950-1960, this 3x6 vintage Afghan tribal kilim runner rug, is an exciting new curation in the Rug & Kilim collection.
On the Design:
Keen eyes for detail will admire the striped pattern of the runner rug, which is reflective of signature Afghan designs. Striped pieces like this were often woven from several long, narrow pieces into one, due to the fact that the weavers had to work in smaller spaces. The usage of beige/brown, blue, gold, and red tones create a striking visual contrast.
