One can definitely see … Read more In the grand Post Nabis/Impressionist tradition, this is an extraordinary oil painting of a Paris courtyard. One can definitely see the influence of Vuillard and Bonnard in this work, with various signatures and indecipherable short descriptions on the back (which confound museum curators and art experts since no one can agree on the exact signature or date) But everyone can see “1927” on center verso though earlier writing (older by perhaps several decades) appears in upper left. You can see modern spacers on the back of the frame where it was analyzed. The painterly elements common in the Nabis movement are obvious and they are extraordinary: the building details, the shadows, the luminous blue sky and verdant details in the lower left—all showcased within the fantastic original 22 c gold frame and liner.
