MATSYO Eri silk runners are made by women from Meghalaya’s Bhoi community who work either from home or in groups. This unique silk is native to this state in the Northeast of India and uses the shift-cultivation method practiced over generations by these communities. Eri silk, also known as peace silk, due to the process of extracting the silk after the silkworm discards the cocoon, has several qualities, including a soft texture and flexibility. The runners are made from yarn that has been colored using natural dyes such as lac red, turmeric yellow, and iron black. These items of beauty are made keeping.
