The Family exemplifies Siriki Ky’s mastery of bronze sculpture and his distinctive approach to form and narrative. The work presents a harmonious composition that celebrates familial unity, rendered with elegant simplification of shapes and a warm golden patina that enhances the tactile quality of the bronze. Ky’s signature treatment of line and proportion conveys both intimacy and monumentality, making this sculpture a compelling representation of contemporary African figurative art.
Exhibited internationally, Ky’s work is held in notable private and public collections, reflecting his standing as one of West Africa’s most respected contemporary sculptors. The Family demonstrates his enduring ability to merge traditional sculptural techniques with a modern aesthetic sensibility, appealing strongly to collectors of fine African art.
Born in 1953 in Abidjan, Siriki Ky is a leading sculptor who trained at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Bingerville, Ivory Coast, and honed his expertise in granite and bronze at the prestigious Centro di Formazione Professionale in Pietrasanta, Italy. Now based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Ky's work has gained international acclaim, with exhibitions across Europe (Italy, Germany, Belgium, France), North America (Canada, USA), and Africa (Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal).
Siriki Ky’s career is highlighted by iconic achievements including founding the first International Granite Sculpture Symposium in Laongo, Burkina Faso, in 1988, a landmark event that continues to this day and showcases monumental sculpture.
His recent artistic evolution shows a deepening engagement with African cultural heritage, blending traditional materials such as aged wood, cowrie shells, kaolin, and natural ochre pigments with his signature bronze work. His sculptures—a mix of primitive tubular figures and refined compositions—serve as powerful witnesses to both African myths and contemporary social realities.
Recent notable works include “Jeunes Mariés” (2022) and “Yennenga Princesse Amazone,” also bronze sculptures that reflect his continuous exploration of African history and identity.
In 2024, Ky was honored at an acclaimed solo exhibition in Miami, USA, featuring monumental bronzes up to 2.55 meters tall, earning him international recognition and respect from his peers. Additionally, in early 2025, he created a monumental sculpture tribute to Lat Dior, the historic king of Cayor and Djolof, which now stands at the town hall in Thiès, Senegal, marking a cultural milestone.
His sculptures are part of prominent public and private collections worldwide, including the National Museums of Burkina Faso and Mali, Fondation Blachère in France, and respected private collections across Europe and North America. Siriki Ky remains a monumental figure in contemporary African art, consistently pushing boundaries while honoring Africa’s rich cultural heritage.
