Levy," and dated 1992. The black silhouette of a couple and their dog posed in a surreal desert setting is a juxtaposition typical of Levy's paintings in which his figures appear rigid as if posing for a photograph. Levy's dream-like paintings with theatrical quality have often reflected his vast collection of generations of family photos from which he has gained much of his inspiration. Benjamin Levy was born in Tel Aviv in 1940 and later moved with his family to New York where his surrealist and fanciful figurative art works gained popularity. As a young man Levy studies art at the École de Montparnasse in Paris, France and New York's Pratt Graphic Art Center. Benjamin Levy’s art has been displayed in exhibits and museums internationally and sold by some of top galleries and auction houses in the world, including Christie’s and Sotheby’s.
