Vintage Stangl Pottery Magnolia Pattern 8-Inch Serving Bowl
The Stangl Magnolia pattern was designed by Kay Hackett and was introduced in 1952. It remained in production until 1978. This pattern was the first to utilize a new green engobe also developed by Kay Hackett that was different than the usual white Stangl backgrounds. The pattern is one of many floral-themed designs, featuring incised lines and raised detail. Like all Stangl, it is hand painted and hand carved with no two pieces exactly alike. This is the smaller serving bowl from the pattern. It features a single magnolia flower in the center of the bowl. The interior sides and outside bottom of the bowl have been painted in deep red tones of varying intensity. The bowl was finished in a high gloss glaze.
Measures ~ 8" in diameter x 2 1/2" H. Heavy for size.
In excellent vintage condition. Without chips, deep scratches, or cracks. The artwork is intact and bright. There is a very tiny production error in a section of the white circle that lacks complete smoothness. Please see the pictures.
