Antique Pair of Von Schierholz Germany Porcelain Cherub Putti Candle Holders
A romantic, hand painted pair of antique candle holders featuring two sweet cherubs with musical instruments, sitting against a tree covered in delicate pink and yellow roses. Candle holders feature a leaf motif with gilt edges. Bases have flourishes and ornate gilding.
Each piece bears the Von Schierholz mark of the triple oak leaf inside a shield topped with a crown, one is signed Germany

History ~
The Von Schierholz porcelain factory was established in 1815 in Plaue, Thuringia, East Germany.
In the early days of the factory it was controlled by the sovereign, Gunther Friedrich Carl I, from his castle at Sondershausen. The concession to operate the factory was granted to the German entrepreneur and manor owner Christian Gottfried Schierholz (1787-1851) of Dornheim. At that time, the factory was located South of Arnstadt, and Schierholz relocated a part of the production to Dornheim. Later on, his son Julius Adelbert became a shareholder, and the company was renamed in C.G. Schierholz & Sohn. Hugo, the younger son, also took part in the company. The porcelain manufactory painted and burned porcelain in Dornheim for a period of 18 years. The factory was operated by the original Schierholz family until 1972 when it was nationalized. In 1990 the Von Schierholz family reacquired the factory which now operates under the name Plaue.
The factory produced high quality Dresden ware and is most famous for ornate Meissen-like and rococo pieces trimmed with gilt and flowers. In the early 1900's Von Schierholz began exporting its finest decorative pieces worldwide, including to New York City.
According to factory accounts, the triple oak leaf mark was adopted in 1899 and the shield-like frame and crown was added in 1910 and used through the mid 1920's.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.
- Please notify us within 24 hours of purchase if you would like to cancel an order, as prompt cancellation will reduce the likelihood that you will incur return shipping charges.
- Once shipping or pickup has been initiated, the cancellation will be considered a return and you will be responsible for the cost of shipping.

- Chairish Express In-Home Delivery
- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.
- The item will be delivered to your home and placed in the desired room. The delivery service includes unpacking, inspecting, and removing packaging materials; and does not include installation or setting up the item.
- Shipping charges start at $999 and vary based on the size, weight, packaging, and/or the value of the item.
- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
