An early George III two-piece mule or blanket chest handcrafted of oak with molded floating tombstone panels and six drawers … Read more An early George III two-piece mule or blanket chest handcrafted of oak with molded floating tombstone panels and six drawers with brass pulls and pierced escutcheons on a raised platform with a nicely shaped apron, short cabriole legs and ball and claw feet. What makes this chest so special are the deeply carved scrolls above the floating front panels and the satinwood and ebony inlaid cross-banded parquetry border outlining the front panels and drawers.

This 18th century chest, which lifts open to reveal a spacious interior, was made by skilled cabinetmakers with solid wood construction, dove-tailed joinery and hand-forged rattail hinges.
