Opening its doors in 1873, the Villa d'Este is one of the finest hotels in the world. The hotel has long been a hangout for the Hollywood elite. Alfred Hitchcock made his first film, "The Pleasure Garden" at the hotel in 1925. During her affair with Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor hid out in one of the hotel's grand suites. While filming, "House of Gucci", Lady Gaga lived in the hotel for a month. Elton John enjoyed the hotel's restaurant so much, that he sent his personal chef to learn from the hotel's chef. After spending a weekend at the Villa d'Este, actor, Stanley Tucci, proclaimed the hotel to be his favorite.
