Murano glass ashtray, attributed to Barovier & Toso, Italy, 1950s.
Nile green color, it was purchased from my great -grandfather in Venice.
It has a small chip, as highlighted by one of the descriptive photographs.
Object very rare to find today.
Barovier & Toso is a window of Murano in Venice. The entrepreneurial activity of the Barovier family began in the mid -thirteenth century and is for this reason the sixth oldest family business in the world still in business. As a brothers Barovier was re -founded in 1878, thus becoming Barovier artists. In 1942, with the merger with the Vetrerie F.lli Toso, he took the current name. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
