This work, signed by the artist, represents a popular scene of forgiveness of joy in the Saint-Guenolé district of the commune of Penmarch in Bigouden country.
This painting is a crowd of vacant bigoudens to their activities of this celebration day, especially near the carousel located a little further on the square.
Religious gathering, the day of forgiveness, the inhabitants put on their most beautiful costumes, signs of social success and wealth. In the 1920s, the arrival of rides and circuses marked the advent of one of the largest profane festivals in Brittany. But the day of forgiveness, it is above all a procession during which the sailors thank the Virgin to protect them.
