A finely executed Grand Tour souvenir depicting Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the most enduring figures of European history. Rising to prominence during the French Revolution, Napoleon (1769–1821) became Emperor of France and reshaped the political landscape of Europe through a series of military campaigns that continue to define his legacy.
This antique porcelain plaque presents his likeness in profile—a format closely associated with 19th-century neoclassical portraiture—rendered in rich gold against a white ground. Pieces of this type were collected by travelers visiting France and Italy, serving as refined mementos of cultural and historical significance.
