Natural White Alabaster Wall Sconces from Basic Source
Durably constructed from natural Alabaster stone that varies to create a truly spectacular fixture

This very tall alabaster wall sconce provides a clean, contemporary look
3 bulb light fixture. This uses a 4 prong florescent bulbs - so I purchased some and will include!
Very heavy with thick 1/2 “ white alabaster
Note: Photos are of the sconce sitting on floor. When hanging, the light will emit from the bottom also.

Condition is very good - Obtained from a very high end lighting company who are downsizing their inventory
Any wear or soiling would be from the item being on display or in storage
This is a hardwire install by an electrician. I did a temporary connection to show beautiful glow.

In my research I found someone who was very knowledgeable on Alabaster. He said he recognized this lamp and actually had the Basic Source catalog it was in! He said due to the size and the thickness, this originally retailed for several thousand dollars! Unfortunately Basic Source closed their business in 2014

Information and care instructions:
Alabaster is a soft stone, so treat it gently. Never use detergents or abrasives. Alabaster is porous, and both will damage it.
Instead, wipe the stone with a slightly damp (not wet), soft cloth.
If you take care of it, it will someday be a treasured antique that you can pass along to future generations
Genuine Alabaster is costly due to the quarrying from deeper underground
Artisans then turn alabaster pieces on a lathe to create the desired shape and then carefully finish and polish the soft stone
There are more and more imitations (China stone, cultured alabaster, faux alabaster acrylic), none of them replicate the real thing
Nothing glows like genuine alabaster. Genuine alabaster is a minimum of 3/8-inch thick and weighs at least twice as much as imitations.
Veins are both translucent and dark and are completely random.
If you see two pieces that have the same veining pattern in the same location, they are not genuine
Owning a genuine Alabaster lamp is not for everyone. If you see the beauty in the glow and appreciate its value, imitations are undesirable. See less
