Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960, this 7x9 vintage Afghan rug of the 1950s is a new curation from Rug & Kilim.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may appreciate elements of a Mashwani rug design—a celebrated provenance of traditional Afghan carpets especially known for their tight knotting. Mashwani rugs are known to favor dark colors, much like this rug’s superb use of rich burgundy, navy blue and orange tones. The field hosts diamonds and other traditional geometric patterns with a gorgeous sense of movement and subtlety. It’s exemplary of the rustic, old-world charm of primitivist rug and flatweave styles that its nomadic weavers preserve today.
Condition:
This mid-century tribal rug enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Furthermore, its promotional price is in support of the women of Afghanistan.
