Sculptural Dining Chair Attributed to Rainer Daumiller,
Denmark, 1970s.
A sculptural solid Oregon pine dining chair attributed to Rainer Daumiller, whose most recognized designs were produced by Hirtshals Savværk. Executed in Denmark during the 1970s, the chair reflects Daumiller’s soft, Nordic, and organic interpretation of Brutalist design.
The construction is defined by elegant and clearly articulated joinery, particularly in the relationship between the signature thick seat and the four solid legs. The chair’s approximately 7 cm thick seat, together with the softly rounded terminations of the legs and backrest, demonstrates a deep understanding of the material and its structural and aesthetic potential.
The high-quality Oregon pine displays a striking and expressive grain pattern, now enhanced by a patina developed over time. The overall form balances sculptural presence with everyday functionality.
Presented in good vintage condition, this chair stands as a strong example of Danish cabinetmaker tradition from the late modernist period and is well suited for both dining use and standalone placement.
