It is a superb example of the work of Langley depicting a tranquil scene on the coast with a cloud strewn sky and wheeling gulls. Oil on canvas, signed lower right. William langley wa a 19th-Century British painter in oil of landscapes and coastal scenes. There are 12 paintings by him in the British National Art Collection as well as other museums and galleries. Langley's subjects include views in Cornwall, the South of England, Wales, and Scotland and Ireland coasts. TItled works include: 'On the Lledr', 'Wee Bridge', 'Killarney', 'In the Glen' and 'Sunshine after Rain'.
