Weaving splint oak … Read more This vintage splint oak Adirondack Trapper backpack basket’s original purpose was used by hunters, fishermen & trappers. Weaving splint oak is a dying art. This backpack has some wear & tear commensurate with its age & a break in weaving on the bottom corners. Folks usually lucky enough to obtain one of these baskets use them for decorative purposes. We purchased this in Vermont from a family that told us it was used by a relative of theirs in Maine in the 1940’s. We used it only for decorative accents in various rooms of our homes. See less
