A fine bronze bust of a sea faring man with a foul weather hat and the end of a cigarette in his mouth. The bust is mounted on a cylindrical rouge marble base. Carl Kauba was born in Vienna, Austria. He captured the essence of adventure, and people of action. Kauba’s intricate bronzes were imported to the United States between 1895-1912 and were cast at the ‘Roman Bronze Works’.
Signed at the base of the bust, and imprinted ‘Geschutzt’ 4529.
