An etrog is the yellow citronor used by Jews during the week-long holiday of Sukkot as one of the four species. Together with the lulav, hadass, and aravah, the etrog is taken in hand and held or waved during specific portions of the holiday prayers. Special care is often given to selecting an etrog for the performance of the Sukkot holiday rituals. In addition, many choose to encase their etrog in a sterling silver box as a sign of reverence for the mitzvah. The box stands on four feet and opens up on top. The lid is secured with an hinge and has a little piece of silver to open it with (see photos). The inside is gold-washed While the outside is a shiny silver. A beautiful gift for a bar-mitzvah boy, or for Father’s Day See less
