Magnificent sculpture that, with great naturalism, represents a turtle. It is a piece of easy placement, both indoors and outdoors.
The most characteristic of the figure is the material with which it is made. with a plaster base, a small amount of tow is added, which makes it more resistant and durable, especially when compared to traditional plaster. It is also very light. This amalgam was widely used by European artists, thanks to its characteristics.
Plaster has a millenary history. Known since ancient times around the Mediterranean basin, its use has been documented in France since the Gallo-Roman period, particularly in the Paris region. After being extracted from the quarry, it was crushed and transported to the kilns in powder form. The profession as well as the techniques and tools used have been handed down from generation to generation. Even today it remains one of the essential materials in the work of sculpture since ancient times.
