Founded in 1931 by John Perona, the El Morocco became one of New York's hottest nightclubs. The club's clientele included fashionable society and entertainers including Joe DiMaggio, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and more. Artist, Joe Fabry (1912-1953) worked primarily in Hollywood from the 1930s until his death. He was best known for his depiction of the Golden Age of Hollywood. His work appeared in The New Yorker, Collier's, and was featured on the El Morocco's menus. Pieces featuring Fabry's designs are prized by collectors of nightlife memorabilia.
