A bold abstract expressionist piece by artist Jason Stallings. This painting titled “Contrasting Tides” is a mixed media abstract painting. This gallery wrap canvas was built and stretched by the artist. The painting was created as a live painting at an event in Dallas, Tx. The new creative environment informs a lot of the energy and improvisational dynamics of the painting. This was painted in 2023 in Dallas, Tx.
The base includes various acrylic, and fiber paste based grounds for absorbency and texture. The initial layers include acrylics diluted with water to create a ground with browns and oranges. As the artist proceeded to build layers with water soluble graphite (blacks) and white gouache, cooler colors were then introduced to contrast the warm/cool dynamics. The upper area of the painting includes some touches of interference colors that reflect light in different ways, adding to the visual impact of the painting. The final layers of the painting include high quality oil colors to enhance the overall nuance of the colors of the artwork.
This painting includes themes of sea life evolving and growing in contrast to technology shrinking ala Moore’s Law. Ideas of nostalgia, narcissism, and communication revolve around sea life as a metaphor for communication and our relationship with technological progress.

This bold and unique painting would make a great centerpiece feature in any office or living room.

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final

Cancellations
