Biography
Paul Hugo ten Hoopen was born in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, in 1927. Ten Hoopen is a painter, draftsman, watercolourist and essayist. He was educated at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam and the Schule des Sehens. During the years of 1969-1992, ten Hoopen was a professor at the National Acadamy of Art in Amsterdam himself. Currentyl, he is a member of the Dutch Watercolourist Circle, The Keerkring, and Arti and Amicitiae.

From ca. 1960 onwards, Ten Hoopen has held countless solo- and group exhibitions. He has won a trio of awards as wel: the Kokoschka Award in Salzburg in 1958; the Grant for Travel of the Ministry of O. K. & W in 1965; the Jeanne Bieruma-Oosting Award for figurative painting in 1986.

His work kan be admired in museums such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Museum Henriëtte Polak Zutphen, Het Rijk, in areas surrounding Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Venlo and Zeist, and in the ABN-Amro Bank building.
