If you are a Hitchcock Chair enthusiast, then you will want to take note of the following: Rush seat only front corner blocks indicate seat rushed directly onto chair rails, being an integral part of the frame and indicating high quality early 19th century construction. This fancy ochre/yellow painted chair is decorated with floral, grape and leaf motif stencils on pillow top rail and central back splat. Ringed turnings are painted ochre/yellow around entire circumference, vertical striping accentuates the side rail contours. The original finish exhibits outstanding antique patina. Solid construction supports the weight of a person without the chair creaking or wobbling. See less
