After designing the rest of a room, walls can seem like the last step before unveiling your design creation for guests to see. However, finding the right pieces and knowing how to display art prints and lithographs can prove to be just as challenging as finding the best table, chairs, and curtains for your artistic vision. Of course, you want to select art pieces that reflect your personal style and artistic vision while also staying chic and trendy. To help, we’ve created a quick list on how to display lithographs and art prints, hopefully giving you some much-needed inspiration to finalize your wall decor selections!

Go Solo

Keep things simple by going solo! Rather than spend time searching for the perfect collection of complimentary prints, find one piece that really speaks to you and let it take center stage on your wall. Be sure to select a large print, so more of the wall is taken up with its stylish design!

Arrange in a Pair or Quadrant

Another great option for how to display art prints is by arranging them in a sweet pair or quadrant! The key to making this work is selecting pieces with similar or complementary elements. Lithographs, which can easily be sourced in sets are a great option for this. For instance, in the photo above featuring designer Chloe Warner’s Oakland family home, two lithographs featuring cranes are on display.

Create a Uniform Gallery Wall

Similar to displaying prints in pairs or quads, a uniform gallery wall works best when every art piece matches every other art piece to evoke a chic and clean aesthetic. By this same token, use matching frames for each print to enhance the put-together look.

Design an Eclectic Gallery Wall

If you’re looking for something a little more unique, then try your hand at creating a stunningly eclectic gallery wall! Unlike a uniform gallery wall, eclectic gallery walls encourage us to get creative. If you’re considering undertaking one, display art prints by combining a variety of sizes, shapes, styles, and mediums to create truly eye-catching walls.

Tips for Picking Prints & Creating Collections

While creating your own collection of art pieces can be fun, it can also be challenging! To help out, here are our top two tips for how to display lithographs and art prints in a cohesive collection!

Choose Similar Subject Matter

One simple way to ensure your gallery collection doesn’t clash, is to select prints and lithographs with similar subject matter. For instance, in the photo above, the design firm Wesley-Wayne has selected four brilliant prints that all feature Art Deco fashion prints. This collection adds to the overall Art Deco aesthetic of the room, but it can be replicated with a variety of other subject matters and styles. Consider landscapes or botanicals in rooms with vintage flair, or animals or textile prints in Maximalist homes, and more!

Choose a Similar Color Palette

Another noteworthy tip for creating cohesive collections is to choose prints that have similar color palettes! For instance, the photo above features a black and white gallery wall that adds to the monochromatic, minimalist workspace. In fact, you can do this with a variety of color palettes such as brown and white to add to a hygge aesthetic or blue and white to create a breezy and coastal feel.
