How do you style a chaise lounge?

To cut to the chaise (so to speak), chaise lounges work almost anywhere you’d drop a traditional accent chair. In a living room, simply swap out two armchairs set opposite a sofa with a chaise lounge for an unexpected riff on tradition. In truly space-crunched spaces, like a studio apartment, a chaise lounge can even be subbed for a traditional sofa. If you do go this route, keep an eye out for chaise lounges with an L-shaped back. A little extra back support can go a long way if you’ll be using your chaise to sit upright for a long period of time.

In an office, a chaise can be used to fill the barren space across from an executive desk. If you have the room, arrange your chaise on an angle to promote dynamic energy. Chaises can also be smart options in a guest room. In a worse-come-to-worse scenario, a chaise can double as an impromptu bed, while in the best-case-scenario it makes for a wondrous luggage rack. A chaise lounge can also be a stylish savior in a nursery. Parental sleepovers, intended or not, become a thing of ease with a chic chaise standing by.

No matter how you decide to style your chaise, consider breaking up the visual runway of the seat with a pillow or throw. A bolster pillow especially can be just the finishing touch your chaise lounge needs.
