What made you passionate about interior design?

My passion for interior design started when I was very young, having grown up with my mother, who is also an extremely creative Interior Designer. Growing up surrounded by beautiful things in a harmonious way taught me how to be more conscious of my environment and have a certain aesthetic when transforming spaces. I eventually started working for my mother straight out of college, which began my career as a designer.

What do you find most compelling about Chairish?

What I find most compelling about Chairish are the tools it allows me as an interior designer to find certain pieces online. It’s a great outsource in my business for the smaller appointments needed to finish a room. I’m able to research anything from an ottoman to mirrors, porcelain, and more. I recently purchased a set of outdoor iron vintage chairs that I love! I would say this time of year I’m always on Chairish locating the perfect garden piece or outdoor furniture.

How does sustainability factor into your design choices and love of vintage?

I have an appreciation for sustainable products, but I feel vintage items are an important consideration for clients who like to repurpose. It adds a design element unique into itself. Plus to repurpose or buy vintage is reducing the waste and need for new production.

Favorite way to create a statement-making moment in a room?

For me, creating a statement-making a moment in a room, I might use a fabulous wallpaper such as a mural from Gracie paper or wild marbleized paper from Area Environments. I might also use a large piece of art or several pieces of art, depending on the mood of the room. In a bedroom, I might have a custom unique headboard. I also like to play around with lighting and texture in a room to create a memorable atmosphere.

Do you have any go to color palettes and color combos?

Over the last year, I’ve found myself and my clients being more drawn to colorful palettes. Specifically greens and blues. I have always used either Farrow and Ball or Benjamin Moore.

What advice do you have for first-time clients to make their space truly personal?

I get a lot of first time clients who are seeking the “non-decorator look!” The advice I would give to clients who truly want to make their space their own would be to infuse items that reflect their personal style, including photographs, collectibles, or any heirloom pieces they want to incorporate into a room. I love to involve my clients in the design process. Depending on their lifestyle, I’m always making sure their home feels personal.
