Inside a Northern California Home Evocative of Italy

Stone exterior of North California home featuring steel-framed windows and roofs

For long-time clients, San Francisco designer Kelly Hohla teamed up with architect Richard Beard to create a new country home on the San Francisco Peninsula that balances clean-lined efficiency and sumptuous contemporary furnishings with the romance of centuries-old stone houses in the hill towns of Tuscany.

The sprawling house features stone walls, steel-framed windows and roofs, and beams of cedar; the series of linked structures makes the scale seem more welcoming.
