When one hears "chocolate brown walls," one might think of a dark and dreary space. Not so. The deep, rich color encapsulates a room that can be flooded with sunshine to create a warm, welcoming, and fresh space. The key is keeping the furnishings simple and light. For this sitting area, Robert Brown Interior Design incorporated a lot of ivory - in both the sofa and carpet - and used a lucite coffee table to counter the rich walls and bold chair and drapery fabric. Simple lamps and subtle art create the balanced composition. At Robert Brown Interior Design, we believe in classic interiors that are modern. To that end, brown and white are a timeless combination; we just reversed the colors and put the brown on the walls and ivory on the floor for a fresh take on a classic.
Robert Brown Interior Design
The Townhouse at Robert Brown Interior Design encapsulates our design philosophy. We believe in highly edited, finely tailored rooms that seamlessly blend periods and styles with a mix of luxurious finishes and materials, great light, and interesting objects. This bedroom is soothing and welcoming, yet there's an interesting discussion between the antique inlaid French console and the contemporary art; between the dark woods and the gilt; between the lightly colored luxurious fabrics and carpeting with the ebonized bed and Klismos chair. You can find this eclectic and unexpected mix when you shop at the Townhouse on 1stdibs.com or in our Atlanta showroom.
With contemporary custom-created wallpaper by de Gournay in tones of charcoal, deep brown, and brushed gold enveloping the room, designer Robert Brown sets the sophisticated tone for the 2019 Southeastern Designer Showhouse & Gardens in Atlanta. Period antiques mix with contemporary art and sculpture in the dining room that's anchored by a tapered chandelier with floating crystals. The soft patina of the large reeded gilt mirror over the clean-lined marble fireplace create a classic, elegant vignette. "The scale of the house is massive, and the ceilings are high, so we ensured that everything would relate architecturally while also creating an interesting, inviting room that appears to have evolved over time." In this dining room, Robert Brown proves what he does best: design timeless rooms that are at once complex in period and style, yet highly edited for a clean, classic look.
