Called by Decor magazine a “New Traditionalist,” Patricia Bonis excels in creating luxury designed for everyday living, no matter the period or style. The process begins, she says, with extensive communication between herself and her clients, giving her the ability to “interpret her clients’ dreams” in order to deliver spaces that are at once elegant and practical. “That is where Patricia shines,” states one of her long-time clients, “she instantly understood me and what we were trying to accomplish.”

During her lengthy career, Bonis has designed embassies, executive offices, headmasters’ quarters, vacation houses, pied-a-terres and the like, but is proudest of the relationships she has maintained with her everyday clients, many of whom have turned to her over the years as their design needs have changed. “I thought working with a designer would be daunting,” notes one, “but working with Patricia was actually fun!”

Bonis’s flexible approach stems from her vast experiences living in such culturally diverse countries as Brazil, England, France, and the Middle East, combined with her formal education in Art History at Wellesley and the Sorbonne. No matter the style of the home, she explains, “the key is to discern the timeless from the fleeting.” This versatility is evident in the range of her residential projects throughout the New York metropolitan area, as well as in the Hamptons, Palm Beach County, FL, and Washington, DC.
