more An excellent diminutive commode in the coveted Satinwood, this briliant little chest of drawers is such a striking object and remains preserved in outstanding overall condition. The vibrant rays in the golden grains are only more striking in light of years of rubbing and polishing, having left a wonderful silky glow throughout. A series of contrasting ebony-yellow stringer inlays cuff the feet and finish the lower edge of the commode, a cross banded inlay finishing the conforming top. The front of the case has a gentle bow, the single drawer opening easily to reveal a large storage space; this single drawer is decorated on the face with ebony inlays to suggest a two drawer facade. The perfect proportions balance the visual weight of the upper against the delicate tapering legs and void below, the overall effect incredibly pleasing and harmonious.
This is a wonderful little piece that will certainly be a cherished acquisition for any passionate collectors of fine English pieces. It’s size allows it to be flexibly enjoyed in and introduced into almost any room in the home.
