The silkscreen print Pop Art exhibition poster is published by Colorado State University, printed in 1981 by Licht Edtions Ltd., Denver, Colorado in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an iconic portrait artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1971-72 titled " Kimiko Powers ". It is hand signed by the artist in black marker in the middle right area below the artwork image.

This is a rare opportunity for true Warhol fans and collectors as this coveted image hand signed Pop Art exhibition poster print is long out of print and very scarce to find.

Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, art works, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. he is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.

Warhol's portrait of Kimiko Powers, who together with her husband John, amassed one of the most comprehensive private collections of Pop Art, stands out as one of Warhol's most iconic portrait works. John and Kimiko Powers lived in New York City in the 1960's, when a new generation of artists were emerging in The Pop Art Movement.

In the 1970's Warhol began accepting portrait commissions, of which the original work of Kimiko was one of the first. Warhol visited their New York apartment to take polaroid photos of Kimiko and was taken by her classic Japanese style, which inspired him to create over twenty-five portraits of her. This marked the beginning of a long friendship between the artist and his model, whom he would paint again.

As the Power's Pop Art collection grew and their apartment in New York became too small for all the art they loved, they designed and built a house in Colorado to display more of their collection. John Powers with his involvement in an arts program sponsoring artists and exhibitions at Colorado State University invited their friend Warhol to present his work in an exhibition in 1981, which this poster is from.

The rare out of print framed Pop Art exhibition poster measures 26" W X 36" H X 1 7/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern matte eggshell finish museum box style black wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling and very light surface wear.
