Schrock (1879–1952), depicting a Pointer hunting dog standing alert in tall grasses. Schrock was known for finely rendered figurative and narrative illustrations, particularly sensitive portrayals of children, family life, and storybook subjects. His work reflects the polished draftsmanship and expressive realism associated with early 20th-century American commercial illustration.

The drawing is signed lower right and executed on paper. The carefully modeled figures, detailed tonal shading, and expressive facial features suggest the work may have been created for a book, magazine, advertising, or other commercial illustration project, although the original publication or intended use has not been identified.
