splendid "tipetto veneziano"-style cake stand, crafted from blown murano glass, dating back to the second half of the 20th century (between 1950 and 1960). This piece is distinguished by its characteristic twisted, ribbon-like, curled edge, a classic example of entirely freehand craftsmanship, without the use of molds. The elegantly flared bowl and base are crafted from a deep amethyst glass; this deep hue is achieved by adding a significant amount of manganese oxide to the siliceous paste, which is necessary to achieve such a dark and saturated color compared to lighter versions. The stem is embellished with a hand-sculpted swan in clear glass with refined gold leaf inclusions (aventurine technique), complemented by black glass eye details. The work expresses the highest artistic and executive quality, allowing it to be attributed to the historic salviati & c. Factory. The superb combination of blown amethyst glass with the cup featuring wavy, ribbed edges, combined with the stylized swan-shaped stem with gold decorations, directly harks back to the historic repertoire of salviati & c. And the celebrated collaborations with great glass masters such as archimede seguso. At the time, many of these masterpieces were identified exclusively by paper labels or adhesive stamps (often lost over time) and not by an acid-etched signature, as is likely also found in the piece presented here.
