The hexagonal form features butterfly-and-foliage panels, a domed roof embossed with additional butterflies beneath a simple finial. A hinged door provides access for a candle or LED light, and the swing handle allows the lantern to be carried or displayed hanging. Dimensions 6ʺ W × 6ʺ D × 8ʺ H, 10ʺ H with handle raised. Provenance: From a Pinehurst, North Carolina estate, where decades of display beneath the eaves contributed to its beautifully weathered surface.

What drew me to this lantern was the contrast between its delicate butterfly design and the substantial weight of the cast iron. The pierced panels cast beautiful shadow patterns when illuminated, while the naturally weathered surface reflects decades of outdoor use, giving the lantern exceptional texture and character.
