The pattern flatters the design of the room and … more The abstract, geometric composition creates the simple elegance of this Ghom. The pattern flatters the design of the room and does not take the attention away from its furniture, decoration and architectural elements. It blends in fantastically with any surroundings and subtly complements the interior design of a room. . The edge of the rug is decorated with an edging (border). The border forms a beautiful contrast to the center. The repeating elements in the center field of this Ghom rug have no specific center (so-called repeating pattern). The repeating pattern has a calming but not boring effect. Rugs with repeating patterns are also called patterned. The pattern of this Ghom is adorned with wonderful Paisley motifs. The paisley motif depicts a leaf with a pointed, curved end, in the style of a large comma and is reminiscent of the Gothic fish-bladder ornament. It originated from the Chaldeans, who apparently used the motif as a representation of the shoot of the date palm, which was essential to their survival. The motif was widespread until the Celts, but was once again replaced by Greek and Roman ornaments. Rug designs containing paisley ornaments are also known as boteh patterns Middle Eastern Mir-e-butha or Mir-i-bota. The background of this Ghom is off white. The border features dark red and dark blue. This Ghom has had admirers before you. It was hand knotted about 1980. We have cleaned it thoroughly and restored it lovingly. Therefore it is in very good condition despite its age. The silk of the pile of this Ghom allows the colors forming the pattern to shine in different facets depending on the lighting. It makes this Ghom a real highlight and creates a cozy and at the same time very elegant and premium atmosphere in the room. Silk is manually extracted from the cocoons of the silk moth. Since individual silk threads are extremely long, the result is very thin yarns, which are nevertheless tear-resistant under low stress. Smaller rug knots can be made with this thin yarn, which create finer patterns. Therefore, the finest rugs in the world are hand-knotted made of pure silk. In this Ghom even the background is made of pure silk. Due to the thin but durable material of the weft and warp threads, a particularly fine knitting and, therefore, a particularly fine pattern is feasible. less

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
