The curved board across the top is inlaid at the center with a satinwood urn and scrolled acanthus leaves.
The geometric shaped rosewood top rests upon two cupboards and an arcaded recess with a beveled mirror back, turned supports, and brass gallery.
The cabinet doors are inlaid with satinwood urns and acanthus arabesques. The doors lock and come with keys. The left cabinet interior features two standard shelves and the right cabinet interior features three vertical pigeon holes for correspondence.
The writing surface is inset with black leather embossed on the edges with a Greek key motif.
Below the writing surface are two frieze drawers constructed with fine hand-cut dovetailing and hand-planed bottoms. The drawer pulls are a bail type on geometric Aesthetic Movement pierced and chased brass scutcheons.
The square tapered legs end in brass casters. Raising furniture on open legs was a response from furniture manufacturers to the late-19th century preoccupation with disease. Circulation of air was considered a preventative.
Inlaid satinwood stringing accents the cabinet doors, the writing surface, the drawer fronts, the legs, and the desk edges.
This model of writing table was sold by Maple & Company, England and was featured in their catalogue from 1885 to 1895.
Desk will suit interiors incorporating elements of Victoriana, Georgian Revival, Adam, Biedermeier, Edwardian Sheraton, Louis XVI, and Neoclassic.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
