This antique French stone mortar originates from the picturesque Auvergne region and dates back to around 1900. Hand-carved from solid stone, it was originally used as a traditional mortar for grinding grains, herbs, or spices. Over time, it has developed a beautifully weathered surface, bearing the marks of over a century of use.
