Large vase, carafe in majolica terracotta, hand-crafted on a lathe, in full futurist style, decorated entirely by hand, treated with acids and signed under the base with "Ac", trademark of the Ligurian manufacture of Alba Docilia.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object:
from our research we have numerous auction results present for Ivos Pacetti, with vases that have received very high estimates, with maximum peaks of 6000-7000 euros for a single vase.
Final considerations on the object:
This vase is particularly valuable, note the body and compactness of the majolica glazes and their particular porosity made with an acid treatment that is difficult to perform and has a notable aesthetic effect.
Information on the artist and/or manufacture:
In 1919, Adolfo Rossello from Albisola opened a craft factory of artistic ceramics called "Alba Docilia", the ancient Roman name for Albisola. The factory remained active until 13 December 1982 and won several awards and participated in several exhibitions, including the II Monza Biennale in 1925. Among the ceramists who collaborated with the company between the first and second post-war periods were, among others: Virio da Savona, Guglielmo Bozzano, Romeo Bevilacqua, Cerruti, Carlo Frumento, Benedetto Gaggero, Ida Milani, Amleto Modolo and Ivos Pacetti. This vase, in our opinion, can be attributed to the latter. Ivos Pacino Pacetti was born in 1901 and died in Albisola in 1970. Considered one of the most important ceramists of Albisola, winner of numerous awards and protagonist of many exhibitions and shows, he also boasts numerous auction results. The vase is very close to his style, especially to his works in futurist style. In the last photos there are historical notes of the Alba Docilia factory and biographical notes of Ivos Pacetti.
