The scene is inscribed 'Artillery Accident nr Hamburg'.This watercolour is one of a collection of works relating to the Dover area in Kent, apparently connected to the estate of Old Park at Whitfield, northeast of Dover. The artist had a preference for depicting senior statesmen, aristocracy, politicians and royalty, indicating that they were someone operating in these circles. Other watercolours in the collection bear the inscription 'as I remember them', suggesting that our artist actually witnessed these people and sights first-hand.The corners of the paper are clipped as shown.All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity and in some cases an accompanying text or artist biography.
