Porcelain plate made for the Japanese market during the late Ming Dynasty. Referred to as Gosu or Ko-Sometsuke by the Japanese; Gosu being a term for foreign and sometsuke the process of painting in cobalt beneath a glaze, Ko signifying great age. The plate features pairs of animated dragons circling a flaming pearl. Displayed on a custom stand, however, it is durable enough for occasional use. Handwashing recommended.
