An outstanding and rare pair of Safari "Roorkee" chairs by M. Hayat & Bros in Peshawar, Pakistan. Roorkee" chairs are campaign chairs commonly used by British officials from the late 19th to mid-20th centuries. The folding teak frame complements the hand-sewn black leather seat. Maker's mark on the teak frame.
Chairs are marked as M. HAYAT & BROS LTD
As all chairs are handmade, each item has its individual patina and tarnish.
Both chairs are in very good, usable vintage condition. Seating and backrest is very solid, flag string very stable. Leather smooth and all over in great condition.
