This antique chest from France … more A French Neoclassic style carved and painted wood chest of drawers from the 19th century. This antique chest from France has a rectangular shaped top which slightly overhangs the case beneath which houses three dovetailed and graduated drawers, fitted with a pair of round brass ring pulls flanking a round-shaped escutcheon at center. Each of the drawers have inlay banding about their perimeter, with book-matched veer within the rectangular centers. Front and rear side posts are all adorned with flute-carvings, which continue down to the squared and tapering legs. The chest has a custom wash of taupe color (which still allows the wood grain, banding, and veneer to be visible) and is complimented with black accents. This 19th century French commode, with its clean lines and Neoclassical touches, would be a great case piece for a bedroom, office or living room. less
