Josef FRANK
Austria/Sweden (1885/1967)
Born in Baden in 1885, Josef Frank is one of the founding members of Swedish modern design. He created Wiener Modern with Oskar Strand, an agency dedicated to the creation of interior design and architecture. In the 1920s he designed subdivisions and residential projects. In 1925, he began the activity of Haus & Garden dedicated to interior design with his fellow architects Oskar Walch and Walter Sobotka. Frank develops a particular kind of modernism, which is based on the use of colors and the search for comfort. Josef Frank left Vienna to escape the spread of Nazism, he then settled in Sweden and began working for the interior design company Svenskt Tenn in 1934. He collaborated with Ericson on various projects, including bathrooms exhibitions of the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1937 and New York in 1939. These rooms stand out for their bold aesthetic which is based on the choice of different materials, bright colors and floral prints. This piece has an attribution mark,
