moreWhile shopping at an estate sale in northern Michigan, I fell in love with a grouping of small paintings. Upon entering and taking in the expansive view of the lake that this old house was built on, I heard another shopper say loudly, "these were done by the artist Mary Moore - she's dead now, but boy could she paint". I walked over to take a closer look and decided that I wasn't leaving without all four of them. I am a sucker for a tiny painting propped on an easel, or hung in a grouping on a wall. The artist who painted this picture, Mary Moore, lived in or near Glen Arbor in northern Michigan all of her life until she died at age 89 in 1994. It is believed that she painted this particular picture in the 70s because it had been hanging in the home since that time, but it could be older . It is signed "Mary Moore" at the bottom and depicts a view of the water from the Sleeping Bear Dunes in northern Michigan. Done on canvas and backed by board this painting has a wire hanger and wooden frame. There is a slim white border, between the painting and the frame. The frame is the color of driftwood. Full disclosure, this is my favorite of all four of the paintings that I purchased at this sale. It will physically pain me to wrap it up and ship it off if it is purchased- it is that pretty. I love the colors and the style the artist employed to depict the waves.
