moreOffering a phenomenal Morion helmet from the 16th century. It was crafted in Italy. During our research we have found some fascinating facts about it. The ship that Columbus brought to the new world had two pieces of armor on it, including an identical Morion helmet to this one. Every detail of workmanship was identical, suggesting both were made by same armorer. This information was gathered from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We were thrilled to discover the vast history surrounding this helmet. What a rare piece to find! Circa 1550.
This is in strong structural condition. There are a few very small spots that have rusted through-see photo. One hole is obvious. The other pin sized holes are along the top seam. A vintage wood stand made just for it displays it securely. The entire interior has a layer of rust. Light rust is along the flat exterior part of the helmet. Handmade rivets surround the entire helmet and are securely attached. Cloth webbing remains on a few of the interior rivets. Overall exceptional condition for the age and history. A magnificent piece of European history that has been preserved for generations.
Measures 15 inches long x 10 inches wide x 11 inches high. The inner part of the helmet measures 7 1/2 inches wide x 8 1/2 inches long. Guaranteed antique & authentic. less
