How tall should end tables be?

An end table, also known as a side table, should generally measure between 18″ and 24″ high, although it is possible to find end tables that measure as high as 30.” In order to decide what height end table is right for you, measure the arm height of the chair or sofa you plan on placing your end table next to. Generally, the top of your end table should land within 2″ of your chair’s or sofa’s arm height. The table can be 2″ higher or 2″ lower. This will ensure that whoever is occupying the chair or sofa can set down a drink, book, or remote with ease. Have a slipper chair without arms and not sure how to gauge the right end table height? Set your sights on a table that measures about 8″ inches above your chair’s seat height. While on the topic of end table dimensions, make sure your table’s depth is no deeper than that of your chair or sofa, as a table that hangs past your chair or sofa can look the opposite of carefully considered.
