Eddie Ross Serves Up Styling Tips for Summer Entertaining

Blue mantel is crowded with layered paintings, sculptures, and vases

It’s no secret that design lovers love incorporating vintage pieces into their spaces. As the premier marketplace for the best of vintage decor and furniture, we at Chairish wanted to extend the reach of our marketplace. We’re delighted to announce that we’ve partnered with The Mine, an online destination powered by design inspiration, professional in-home services and a selection of furnishings, will be adding vintage pieces to their selection of decor. The Mine’s consulting style director, Eddie Ross, and the trend and design team hand-selected a collection of Chairish pieces, which are now available to shop on their site.

“We’re excited to partner with The Mine,” says Chairish co-founder and chief marketing officer, Anna Brockway. “Their design-loving audience is a perfect fit for us. Eddie has a great eye for vintage and is a pro at selecting must-have finds from our collection to feature at The Mine. Bravo, Eddie!”

With summer in full swing and Eddie being the entertaining master that he is, we asked him to share his tips for decorating with vintage, summer entertaining, and how to design a stand-out tablescape.

Do you have any tips for how to work vintage pieces into the table setting?

Mixing vintage and new tableware into what you already own doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. For example, you can easily add charm to a set of new plates with vintage forks from the flea market.

What’s your favorite way to add drama to a room?

Cover a dining or end table with a show-stopping textile to change the entire feel of a room; or, add pillows in a variety of colors, textures and patterns to transform your sofa.

Do you have a favorite vintage serving piece that adds personality to your entertaining game?

I often like to use a chic mirror as a serving tray for hors d’oeuvres – it brings a more glamorous look to the mix.

What’s on your party prep checklist, pared down to the bare essentials?

Start prepping early – even earlier than you think is required. And set up drink stations throughout the house to keep guests circulating.

What’s your favorite thing to serve for summer entertaining?

For a no-fail cocktail, combine Fresca, white wine and fresh fruit like peaches, strawberries and grapes, and serve it all in a large vintage jar with a silver ladle. It’s like a sophisticated sangria without all the work!
