Arranging your dishes can be a daunting task, but we’ve got a few simple tips that’ll turn your display from drab to fab! The most important thing to remember in arranging dishes in a china cabinet is to do it by size.

First, decide if you want your dishes to be leaned up against the back wall of your cabinet or stacked. If you want them to stand up, make sure you use plate holders if your cabinet doesn’t already have ridges specifically for that purpose. Larger plates go in the back, and should get progressively smaller toward the front. If you stack them, organize each group by size for a uniform and clean look. Pro tip: Use coffee filters in between your dishes to minimize rattling. Place big and heavy items on the bottom shelf and crystal items on the topmost shelf. Aim for general balance in your arrangement, but note that absolute symmetry can be boring and stuffy.

Also remember that you don’t have to fit every piece into the cabinet! Leave space in between dishes and add interest with things like small vases or candle holders to bring your display to life. Now, go forth and arrange!
